Seventh Year of Tutoring At Sheep Harney

In 1998 we began to seek ways in which we could increase our Christian help to the neighbors of First United Methodist Church. After considerable investigation it seemed to us that the best road toward helping the community according to the teachings of Jesus would be to work with small children. Looking at the posible roads near us that we could take we arrived at one of the roads less traveled and visited Sheep Harney Elementary School in the summer of the year 2000. Feeling that the schools themselves were more cognizant of both needs and solution, we made a group of volunteers available and asked for direction from the school . After some discussion concerning our attributes and numbers, an after-school tutoring program was agreed upon. The Tutoring Program started in the fall of 2000 and has continued each year since with this being our 7th year.
