Welcome to the Education Page. This page is the responsibility of the Education Department of FUMC of Elizabeth City to maintain and keep current as well as to choose its content.
As a starting point one of the Web Page administrators has placed some information onto this page so that the few words will not be lonely. The Education Department is urged to remove, modify and add whatever they feel will best serve the objectives of informing both those currently in the church family and those considering joining us as to what happens at FUMC to improve one's knowledge of the Bible and its teachings.

We have our nursery open for all church activities. Coverage for worship and Sunday school starts at 8:15 AM and continues until 12:15 PM or until the last child leaves. The nursery starts with babes in the crib and also takes care of toddlers (0-2yrs old). Parents check their children in and pick up a pager which allows them to maintain contact with how their children are getting along while they learn and worship.
We then have children's church starting after the children's sermon at the start of worship service in the sanctuary, which has bible stories and crafts for children 3yrs old through 3rd grade.During Sunday school hour from 9:30 until 10:30 am we have classes for all age groups with the above

Men’s Bible Class: A gathering of men with no age limits although most are beyond mid life. A rotating panel of teachers uses the Cokesbury Adult Bible Studies curriculum to explore the biblical message and how to apply it to daily life. Fellowship, singing, and prayer are the mainstays of this group. Visitors are always welcomed.

Christian Education for Middle School and High School Youths
Many churches have difficulty keeping youth involved in church activities in the latter years of Middle School and High School. A lot of them drop out until they marry and their children start to arrive and then they remember the importance that church had for them. This is unfortunate and we are seeking to maintain interest during these difficult years for teens.
